Alaska. Now there is a magical word. Ever want to go to Alaska? When you think of Alaska what comes to mind? Whales? Bears? Salmon? Small fishing villages along a beautiful coast? Sure, all of those things plus many more I’m sure. Perhaps the snow-capped mountains, rivers and streams, native people, and of course Denali National Park are what you think of.
When you spend the money it takes to get to Alaska, your dreams should come true. See the wild Alaska every television special on Alaska shows you. Whether you fly, cruise, or drive to get to Alaska, see what you paid for.
The “Inside Passage” that is so very popular is some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see in Alaska or anywhere else for that matter. Southeast Alaska, the hidden jewel of the forty-ninth state is a very well kept secret and Wrangell is even a better kept secret. Ever hear of the Stikine River, AnAn Bear Observatory, or Little Norway? Come to Wrangell and take a trip or two with Alaska Waters, Inc. Go deep into the Stikine/LeConte Wilderness Area in a jet boat and when the captain eases into a quiet, clear-running slough, turns the engines off, the only noise you will hear is your own breathing and heart beat. That is the Alaska you came to see! That is the Alaska you will talk about to friends for the rest of your life. Castle Mountain shrouded in high misty clouds, Shakes’ Glacier with its glorious lake and surrounding mountains will take your breath away.
Did you say you thought of bears in Alaska? Well now, walk along the board walk trail to AnAn Bear Observatory. There you will see brown bears and black bears gorging themselves on the salmon that have come to the stream to spawn. Eagles are everywhere! Bears are everywhere! Alaska is everywhere. Now you are seeing the Alaska you came to see. Sound like what you had in mind for Alaska.
